Client: Hillmond Outlaws

Project: Cowgirl Mascot Illustration

Date: Spring 2023

The Hillmond Outlaws had a cowboy mascot, but they were looking to create a second version for a the elementary school.

Our artist leaned heavily on the existing mascot for stylistic reference and tried to capture a younger, more playful sort of “toughness”. The cowgirl was hand drawn, then vectorized, coloured, and shaded.

For vector illustrations and logos, our artist tries to keep transparency effects to a minimum (or completely absent from the design) so that the file can be easily exchanged between various professional design suites. The cowgirl’s shading is accomplished purely through gradient fills.

The two mascots pair well together and you could almost imagine a tough cowboy and young cowgirl making these sneering faces at each other in real life (with the younger one trying not to laugh).
